Pavers & Bricks
Your Path to Fewer Claims, Less Rework, and More Consistent Quality
Built for pavers and bricks – and adaptable to similar products
What really hurts in paver and brick manufacturing is not the scrap pile but defective units reaching the customer. With multiple products on every board and changing surfaces, small flaws are easy to overlook. The Accella Quality Box™ uses AI-based vision to inspect every product on every board –whether pavers, bricks, tiles or similar products – flag defects, and keep your quality decisions consistent across shifts, lines, and plants.
Traditional Quality Control
❌ Human inspectors must scan many units per board and keep up with a constant flow
❌ Subtle cracks, chips, or missing units are easy to overlook when fatigue sets in
❌ Judgments vary between operators, shifts, and plants, leading to inconsistent quality
❌ Data about defects is rarely captured in a structured way that supports process improvement
AI-powered Quality Control with the Accella Quality Box
✅ Inspects every board at line speed applying the same criteria, every time
✅ Detects a wide range of surface defects and missing or broken units
✅ Adapts to your products and tolerances by learning from your examples
✅ Produces structured data on defects and trends that can feed root-cause analysis
How AI-Driven QC Works on Pavers, Bricks and Similar Products
While the example shows concrete pavers the same setup applies to other products with similar inspection needs.
1️⃣ Image capture – a camera mounted above the line captures each board as it passes
2️⃣ Model training and tuning – the AI model is trained on images of your good and bad pavers to learn your definition of acceptable and defects
3️⃣ Real-time inspection – during production, every board is analyzed automatically. Products are evaluated in real time and suspicious units are flagged
4️⃣ Operator feedback and actions – results appear on an operator screen, Operators can now remove units manually or the system can trigger automated rejection
5️⃣ System integration – inspection results can be sent to PLCs, MES/ERP, or other systems so quality data becomes part of your standard reporting and improvement processes
Once deployed, the Accella Quality Box is integrated with your existing equipment and works alongside your operators to keep defective pavers, bricks and similar products from leaving the plant. Instead of sampling or relying on manual spot checks, every paver on every board is inspected without slowing the line.
Typical outcomes include:
- Fewer defective units reaching customers and generating complaints
- More consistent quality decisions across shifts, lines, and plants
- Better visibility into recurring defect patterns that can inform process improvements
- Ability to add several quality inspection steps during the manufacturing process reduces scrap because defects are detected earlier
The same basic system can be deployed at different points in your manufacturing process, for example.
- Dry-side inspection after curing: inspect each board once surfaces are cured, before sorting or palletizing, to avoid sending defective units downstream
- Final quality gate before packaging: add an AI-based check as a final safeguard before products are wrapped and shipped.
- Specialty or premium product lines: apply stricter criteria to premium pavers and bricks where appearance is critical, while maintaining standard criteria on other lines.
